Keep on Trucking
Miyazaki-san hates Mondays
This is the best thing I’ve drawn lately, despite being a random warmup. C’est la vie, I suppose.
I’ve been playing a lot with style and other things over the past few weeks - both for Errant and for other projects. It can be immensely frustrating to have a clear idea of what you want the effect of a work to be, while simultaneously being unsure of the delivery method (so to speak). The last page of the prologue is immensely complex and will probably take another week to finish, especially given that I’m working on some other projects simultaneously.
I feel better about making art in general though, of late. I’m more in touch with my creative energies and focusing on only drawing when I actually have the juice for it, unless I’m doing purely mechanical tasks on the comic.
See you next week!
I did it!
I finally finished the first page of my comic! New pages will be coming weekly going forward. The prologue will be about six pages long, with an 18-page first chapter coming next month.
It’s nice to finally finish something for once. Even if it’s something small. I completed the first page of my prologue for Errant today and got it posted here for people to read. Honestly, I don’t expect anyone to ever see it (maybe some of my friends will look at it? idk). But I’m just happy to be finally really starting on this journey I’ve been planning for two+ years now. Hopefully I’ll be able to get a new page drawn every week for the rest of the spring and maybe accelerate a bit in the summer? We shall see.
The euphoria is real, folks.
Welcome to the world of Basemondo
The World of Basemondo
Hi there! I’m Basemondo. I’m a self-taught artist and writer from the American Northeast who grew up in the oughts. I have been reading comics for as long as I can remember and playing around with storytelling and RPGs since I was very young. My only prior comic was the first issue of a story called The Once and Future Ng, written by Sol Garza and illustrated by Yours Truly in 2017. Since then I’ve been honing my illustration and writing skills while I work day jobs…until now.
I built this website partly out of a desire to have my own space, away from social media to post my art and my thoughts, and play…and partly because I really wanted to have a place for a real, dedicated portfolio of my work. But chiefly, this site exists to host my webcomic, Errant, which I’ll be releasing as I draw it overthe coming months.
I plan to post blog entries regularly going forward, regardless of how the comic goes - sometimes with art, and other times just words.
Thanks for reading! I’ll see you around.
