Hi there!
I’m Basemondo, a cartoonist, illustrator and writer living in Washington, DC. I draw largely fantasy themes, with the occasional science fiction influence in my free time, when I’m not working my full time job as a librarian. I am inspired by the beauty of nature, the human body, and the play of light and shadow in my art. My writing draws on the experiences of my forbears in Europe, and myself in America, with an emphasis on queer and refugee stories, as well as a strong interest in how people used to live their lives and cope with war, upheaval and disaster, and what we can learn from their experiences to help us survive our own interesting times.
My current ongoing project is a webcomic called Errant (read the first pages here), a historical fantasy about knightly secret agents working for the faerie queen in late medieval Europe. I’ve been working on this project for five years now and am very excited to share the stories of Hugh deGagne, Elizabeth Corvinus and their fellows with you!

I am Basemondo, a self-taught artist from the American Northeast.
I work in traditional (ink, paint, graphite and paper) and in digital (chiefly Clip Studio Paint) media.
